A national congress is held annually, preferably in rotation at a different institution. Since 2003 an annual colloquium for young scholars is also organized to provide a vehicle for interdisciplinary interchange, exposure, as well as a publishing opportunity as the contributions of the colloquium are published in a volume of the following year’s Journal for Semitics.

Call for papers

In 2012 the 25th annual conference of SASNES will form part of the 2nd Joint Conference of Academic Societies in the field of Religion and Theology.  This major event is scheduled for 18-22 June 2012 and will be hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal on its Pietermaritzburg campus.  This date is much earlier in the year than our usual conference meeting, hence the early call for papers.
